How it works

How HyreRestore works

You tell us about the damage and your zip code; we answer your question and tell you when we can introduce you to restoration companies in your area. Nothing is passed to a company unless you agree. You are never charged, and you are never obliged to hire anyone.

Last updated .

If water is running or the building is unsafe, start there, not here. Shut the water off at the main, keep away from standing water near electricity, and call your insurer’s claims line. This is not an emergency dispatch service, and the first 24 hours is the page that is actually useful in that hour.

How we help you find a restoration company

Four steps. You stay in control of who comes to the house and whether you hire anyone.

Step 01 — Tell us about the project

Water damage, fire, mould, storm damage or reconstruction — plus the zip code so we know which local restoration companies are relevant.

The enquiry form asks for the type of loss, roughly when it happened, the zip code and anything you want to describe in your own words. Loss type matters because the trades diverge early: water damage and sewage are handled under different safety rules, mould remediation is separately licensed in several states, and fire and smoke usually splits into a structure scope and a contents scope. The zip code matters because climate, flood rules and licensing are all local.

Step 02 — Get connected

We follow up about connecting you with restoration contractors serving your area. Nothing is sent to a company unless you agree.

The honest version of step two. Straight answer about what happens next: our company matching is still being built, so this is not an emergency dispatch line. If your property is actively flooding or unsafe, call a local restoration company or your insurer’s emergency number now. Tell us the project and the zip code if you are past that point. We will help you think it through, and nothing is passed to a restoration company unless you agree.

So what actually happens after you press submit is this, in order:

  1. You tell us what you need. The form, plus whatever you write in your own words — the messier the description, the more useful it usually is.
  2. We answer your question. A person reads it and replies to you, not to a contractor. If the honest answer is "your insurer decides that" or "we cannot tell from here", that is the answer you get.
  3. We tell you where introductions stand for your area. Including when the answer is that we cannot yet introduce anyone near you. Saying so is better service than a silence you interpret as a queue.
  4. Nothing goes to a professional unless you agree. Your details are not sold, not listed and not routed to a panel. Agreement is a separate, explicit step, and you can withdraw it.

What this is not: a dispatch line, a queue that triggers three calls in ten minutes, or an auction where the same enquiry is sold to as many companies as will pay for it. Our lead quality standard is the published version of that commitment, written so that you can hold us to it too.

Step 03 — Compare your options

Ask for the same written scope: what is being dried, the drying goal, what is being removed, and whether reconstruction is included or separate.

Two scopes that do not describe the same work cannot be compared on price, and on a damaged property they very often do not. Ask each company for the same four things in writing:

  • What is being removed.
  • What is being dried.
  • What the drying goal is, and how it was set.
  • Whether reconstruction is included or quoted separately.

Choosing a restoration company has the full checklist, and the estimate check runs six completeness tests over a document you have already been handed.

Step 04 — Choose what fits

Pick the restoration company that matches the loss, the documentation standard and the way you want the claim handled — or keep researching.

Continuing to research is a legitimate ending. So is hiring one company for mitigation and a different one for the rebuild — you are generally not required to use the mitigation company for reconstruction, and the rebuild is the phase where you have the most time to compare bids. Before you sign anything, read what an assignment of benefits transfers; it is the one document on a damaged property worth being slowest about.

What this costs you

Nothing. Every guide, calculator and reply is free, and no tool is gated behind an email address. We expect to earn revenue by introducing homeowners to restoration companies, which is stated in full on our about page along with the things we publish that work against that model.

Questions

What happens after I submit an enquiry?
You tell us what you need, we answer your question, and we tell you whether and when we can introduce you to restoration companies in your area. Nothing goes to a company unless you agree to it first. There is no dispatch, no auto-routing and no list of firms that receive your details on submission.
Will three companies call me?
No. We do not resell an enquiry to a panel of contractors, and we would rather say plainly that company matching is still being built than imply a phone that starts ringing. If you need somebody at the property today, contact local restoration companies directly — they are faster than we are.
Does submitting the form commit me to anything?
No. It is free, it is not a work authorisation, and it does not commit you to a company, a scope or a start date. A work authorisation is a document you sign at your property with the company doing the work; a form on this site is not one and cannot become one.
What do you do with my details?
We read them, we reply to you, and we hold them so we can answer follow-up questions. They are not sold, and no restoration company receives them until you have agreed. If you want them deleted, ask us and we will delete them — the privacy policy sets out what is stored and for how long.
Can you tell me what my restoration will cost?
Not from a form. We have not seen the loss, the affected materials or the local rebuild rates, and a whole-house number produced without those would be worse than nothing. What we can do is explain what drives the figure and what a complete written scope contains, so that you can read the estimate in front of you.
Do I have to hire whoever you introduce?
No, at any point. You choose who comes to the property and whether you hire anybody at all, and in most cases you also choose whether the company that dries the house is the one that rebuilds it. Continuing to research is a legitimate outcome and the site is built to support it.
