Ask us how this site works, or what any of it means for your situation. Two things first, because they save you time: we are not a restoration company, and we cannot tell you what your policy covers.

If water is running, there is sewage in the property, or the building is unsafe, do not email us. Active water, fire or sewage damage is an emergency and it belongs with a local restoration company and your insurer now, not with a research desk. Shut the water off at the main, keep away from standing water near electricity, leave the building if the structure or the air is in question, and call your insurer’s claims line for the claim number. The first 24 hours is the page that is actually useful in that hour; board-up and tarping covers an open envelope. Come back to us afterwards.

We are not a restoration company. Active water, fire or sewage damage is an emergency and belongs with a local firm and your insurer now.

What we can help with

  • Working out which kind of job your situation points at — see the ten services.
  • Whether a written scope is complete enough to compare with another one.
  • What a drying goal and a moisture log are, and what to ask for on day one.
  • How the claims sequence normally runs, and what an adjuster’s scope is for.
  • What an assignment of benefits transfers, and how it differs from a work authorisation.
  • How the calculators work and where their limits are.
  • Corrections. If something here is wrong, we want to know.

What we cannot help with

  • Emergencies. A local company and your insurer are faster and are the right call.
  • Dispatching anyone. We are not a restoration contractor and hold no equipment.
  • Pricing your loss. We have not seen it, and we publish no average restoration prices — here is why.
  • Telling you what your policy covers. Only your policy and your insurer can. What is commonly covered is as close as we get.
  • Acting on your claim. We are not a public adjuster and cannot negotiate, submit or supplement anything.
  • Recommending a specific company. We publish no ratings and no reviews — here is what we do and do not check.
  • Legal advice on a contract, an assignment or a dispute. That belongs with a licensed attorney in your state.
  • Health advice about mould or contaminated water. We stay at the level the EPA and CDC state; a clinician answers the rest.

Before you write

Two things usually answer the question faster than we can. First, find your declarations page and look for the deductible and whether you hold replacement cost or actual cash value — that pair decides what actually reaches you, and the should-I-file tool walks through the arithmetic. Second, ask whoever is already on site for the drying goal and the daily moisture readings. If neither exists, that is usually the real answer to whatever you were about to ask us, and choosing a restoration company covers what to do about it.

How restoration works covers the job end to end, the claims hub covers the paperwork, and the FAQ has the questions we are asked most.

Questions

Can you send a restoration company to my property?
No. HyreRestore is not a restoration contractor and does not dispatch crews or equipment, and company matching is still being built. If water is running, if there is sewage in the property or if the building is open to the weather, contact local restoration companies directly and call your insurer’s claims line — both are faster than we are.
Can you tell me what my restoration will cost?
Not from an email. We have not seen the loss, the materials it reached or your local rebuild rates, and a number produced without those would be worse than no number. What we can explain is what drives the figure and what a complete written scope contains, so that you can read the estimate in front of you.
Can you tell me whether my insurance will pay?
No. Your policy, your declarations page and your insurer decide that, and we are not an insurer, a producer or a public adjuster. We can explain what standard policies commonly do and do not cover, and which questions to put to your adjuster in writing.
A restoration company is refusing to release my property or my belongings. Can you help?
Not directly — we have no relationship with them and no standing in the dispute, and implying otherwise would waste time you do not have. Your state department of insurance handles claim-handling complaints and your state licensing board handles contractor conduct. Our avoiding-scams page sets out the sequence and what to gather before you make the call.
How do I report an error on the site?
Email us with the page and what you believe is wrong. Corrections are genuinely welcome and are the fastest way to improve a page. If something here cannot be supported by the source we cited, we would rather remove it than defend it.
I run a restoration company. How do I get listed?
There is no directory to be listed in yet, and we would rather say so than collect your details for something that does not exist. The page for restoration companies sets out honestly where introductions stand and what we would need from you when they open.
How do I have my data deleted?
Email us and ask. The privacy policy sets out what is stored, for how long, and the process for deletion. You do not need to give a reason.
